Apologies seems to have been solved by reinstalling MacOS xcode developer tools !!!! Hope this helps --- but who knows I may be back ....
This seems to happen whenever you update to MacOS Ventura (or at least did when I did!)
For anyone else having this issue running this in the terminal should fix:
xcode-select --install
and then you can verify the installation of the Xcode command-line tools by running:
xcode-select -p
This command should output the path to the command-line tools, typically /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools .
